Odor in the Ductwork
Cindy from Massachusetts – ” I recently purchased a mobile home which has gas heat and air conditioning system that uses both the duct system In the home. And of course, it is on the floor. I recently replaced all of the top grades in all of the rooms but noticed a smell coming from certain grates on the floor. I have tried bleach I have tried vacuuming them out which I noticed there’s fiberglass insulation so I had to be careful vacuuming. I have also tried pet stain and odor and my last try was CLR mold and mildew from axing stain remover bleach free. It seems to be a little better but I just want to know what I can do in the future I am considering having someone clean the duck work out and sanitize it. But it comes with a price tag. Do you have any advice as to what I should do next?”
Michelle from New York – “We recently purchased a 1958 home on pier foundation in Orange County New York. Like other homes in this mountain community, it is located downhill, so there is negative grade on the southern side of the home (front entrance). We have a basement on the north side of the home and a crawlspace on the southern side which is always damp. The furnace and oil tank are located in the crawlspace. How do I positively grade the area on the southern side of the home?”
Not Picking Sides
Eva from Texas – “My father and husband have me all confused and I just want answers without choosing sides. Just bought an 80-year-old brick house with an h20 heater in attic. Father says best to get it out And build up inhalation from 2- required 15″ husband wants to keep it up there and insulate around it. I’m so lost.”
