Methodology

How We Rate and Review Providers

Today’s Homeowner’s overarching goal is to conduct in-depth and unbiased evaluations of reputable home services companies for every article we publish. From there, we work to transform those findings into an accessible and empowering resource for homeowners, renters, landlords, real estate professionals, and other readers alike.

At the helm of our research process is a rating system that assigns any featured provider a numerical grade based on different categories, depending on the service. For example, we consider various factors when grading home warranty providers, gutters and gutter guards, and moving companies, to name a few. Our in-house research team uses all supporting information from factually accurate public data sources, verified policyholder testimonials, and anonymous homeowner experience surveys.

Here is an overview of our overall composite rating system and what each level, from zero to five stars, indicates:

★★★★★ Outstanding

★★★★☆ Excellent

★★★☆☆ Average

★★☆☆☆ Below Average

★☆☆☆☆ Poor

Transparency to you, our reader, is our top priority. Today’s Homeowner has made every effort to provide true and accurate statements regarding all products or services mentioned, reviewed, or recommended by Today’s Homeowner on this Site.

Affiliate Compensation Disclosure

This Affiliate Compensation Disclosure is provided by Today’s Homeowner, together with its affiliates, including, without limitation, both mobile and online versions of our websites (collectively referred to herein as the “Site,” “we,” or “us”), and is provided to disclose Today’s Homeowner’s financial relationship with affiliates, advertisers, sponsors, and other third parties that appear on the Site (collectively, referred to herein as “Affiliates”), pursuant to the Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsement and Testimonials in Advertising, 16 C.F.R. Part 255.

We’ve posted this Affiliate Compensation Disclosure since Today’s Homeowner sells and thus receives monetary and other forms of compensation from Affiliates for various advertising, sponsorships, insertion orders, and promotional campaigns that we feature on the Site. Therefore, a paid connection exists between some of the products or services mentioned, reviewed, or recommended on this Site and the Affiliate (i.e., the owner of that third party product or service). If you ultimately decide to purchase such a product or service mentioned on the Site, Today’s Homeowner may receive additional compensation from that purchase from the Affiliate.

Further, the Site posts or promotes content, including editorial content, which may feature third party products and services (the “Affiliate Products”) and link to third-party owned and operated websites where you can purchase Affiliate Products. If you click on a link to an Affiliate’s Product on the Site and then follow the link to buy an Affiliate Product on the Affiliate’s website, Today’s Homeowner may receive compensation from the Affiliate offering the Affiliate Product. The content featuring Affiliate Product(s) may not always be identified on the Site as paid or sponsored content. The compensation we receive from Affiliates may influence what content, topics, or posts we make on the Site where they are posted.

Also, you may see third party ads posted on the Site. Each time you click on such an ad, we will receive compensation from the third party advertiser, even if you do not purchase something from the third party.
