TruGreen currently holds a 3.5 star rating on Trustpilot, with 58% of reviewers rating the service they received as “excellent.” For instance, here is what a few reviewers had to say about TruGreen.
“I’ve been utilizing Trugreen and their services for nearly 25 years with great results! Whenever any issues did arise, they were always addressed and remedied quickly and professionally!”
— WILLIAM P., 5 STARS, TRUSTPILOT, 6/23/2019
The most common compliments TruGreen received in their reviews were related to the skill and professionalism of their technicians. TruGreen reviewers consistently referred to technicians as “professional,” “knowledgeable” and “courteous.” Many reviewers also praised the quality of the work completed and wrote about how they plan to continue using TruGreen’s services for years to come.
In negative reviews, common complaints described services not taking effect and TruGreen not returning to do maintenance in between services, along with unexpected fees.
“I have used TruGreen in the past and don’t remember it being as bad as it was this season. I have seen a lot of complaints about them locally this year. Maybe my local franchise is experiencing some quality issues? Not only do I have a lot of weeds (crabgrass, nutsedge and others) in my lawn that they have serviced since early spring, but I also have several dead spots. I’ve requested multiple times for them to address the crabgrass and Nutsedge, which are still prominent in my yard. I went to the local lawn care store this week and bought some products to help address the crabgrass. Hopefully, that will kill some, or much of it. Unfortunately, I paid in advance in order to save money. I likely will not use them again next year.”

What To Expect
Before you get a quote, you may benefit from knowing the questions a representative may have for you and the details you may need to provide. A representative may ask for:
- Your address, in order for the representative to analyze your lawn’s shape and size through online maps
- Your phone number
- Any previous lawn treatments applied
- Any current issues you’re having with your lawn
- Any pests that are affecting your lawn’s quality
- If you are interested in additional preventative treatments, such as a winterizer
Once the representative has this information, they will explain what your lawn treatment would entail, including how many visits TruGreen technicians will make throughout the year and the price of your potential plan. I’ve been a customer of Trugreen for several years. I haven’t seen any improvement in weed control during that time. I’ve had follow-up service and each time they say the same thing….”You should see the weeds start to die in a few days.” They never do, no improvement. The last follow-up was done by a man who was working for Trugreen for only 2 months, and he was already an advisor and teaching another employee. Every time I call I’m told there is a 2 hour delay, so they must be having a lot of problems. I think I can grow weeds by myself, without their help, and without paying them. I requested a refund for my wasted money and was told the district office would call me in 48 hours, they never did, another example of the ineptitude. I would discourage anyone from using their services.
