Some of the new plastic laminate countertops can mimic the look of natural stone at a much lower price. Made by various manufacturers and known as honed, etched, or textured, they not only look like stone but feel like it as well. At 50% to 65% less than stone, you can have the look you want while your budget remains intact.

Saw your show Sat morning and would like to know where to purchase the formica that looks like granet.
Thanks
Hi Paul,
There are several companies that make faux stone plastic laminate countertops. You can find out more about the Formica countertop featured in this week’s show on our website at (711) Faux or No. We featured another faux stone plastic laminate countertop by Wilsonart in last year in our (646) Budget Kitchen Makeover episode.
Hey Danny, nice video! Quite interesting to know that laminated counters can mimic real stone. In your video they look amazing! Like a real stone indeed! So probably this is a good new for people who were ready to buy granite counters. How about taking care of this counters? Is that much easier than taking care of granite countertops?
Hi Steve,
While granite is a hard and durable countertop material, however, unlike plastic laminate, it does require regular sealing to prevent stains.

We don’t sell construction products on this website, but we encourage checking your local home center for these materials.
