If you’re planning a tile project, you may want to consider using penny tiles! Penny tiles can add some retro flair to any room and come in all sorts of finishes and patterns.
In this project, we’re using tiles that range from 3/4 inch to 1 inch in diameter. They also can be hexagonal, square or round, like pennies.
The tiles themselves are attached in a pattern to a fiberglass mesh net backing that makes installation easy — and easy to cut if you don’t need a full sheet!
Penny tiles became popular in 1900s homes so they’re a great choice for updating houses from this era — but they also make a statement in your modern home.
These tiles come in various materials like glass, porcelain, cork and even metal! They’re great for backsplashes, flooring and even walls.
And they’re affordable, ranging from $3 to $10 per square foot.
However, because these tiles are so small, they do require much more grout. But all of those tiles and their mix of tones create a beautiful textured mosaic effect.
And that intricate design adds instant impact and interest to any space!
