Christmas is about family, and that’s what we’re talking about on this episode of the Today’s Homeowner Radio Show.

Remembering Handy Andy — and Relaxed Rules
Do you remember the Handy Andy tool set? It featured real tools for small aspiring construction workers to get their start. Among those aspiring home improvers was me!
Watch this throwback video featuring that Handy Andy set — which isn’t just a childhood memory because I’ve been collecting them for years. And you wouldn’t believe what they packed in kids’ toy sets several decades ago.
Joe knows something about those days with, shall we say, relaxed rules: sitting in the back of the car, wearing no seatbelt, with his Dad smoking with the windows up and the long ride to his relatives’ house.

Reflecting on a Talented Stranger’s Gift
If you follow the Today’s Homeowner Facebook page, you may have read about a special gift I received 12 years ago, when a mysterious gentleman stopped by Today’s Homeowner studios and gave one of his favorite possessions: a carpenter pencil from The Home Depot, modified to look like Santa Claus!
You can learn more about this talented man here and here.

Enjoying Today’s Homeowner as a Family
Finally, I’m so pleased to hear about TH fans watching our TV show as a family. That’s something Sandy Burrows, of Massachusetts, does when her grandkids come to visit.
It’s good that her grandkids can see how easy home improvement is, from an early age. And how fun it can be when you do it with family. Happy Holidays, Sandy!
