Grout between pebbles on a shower tile floor
Pebble-style shower floors are popular for creating a spa-like atmosphere, but it’s important to choose the right grout for them.
In this Q&A segment from the Today’s Homeowner Radio Show, Wesley needs advice on what kind of grout to use for his bathroom remodeling project. He plans to install pebble-style tiles on his shower floor. They have fiberglass mesh backing and will really transform Wesley’s space. Choosing the tiles was the easy part, but picking the grout is the head-scratcher!  Here’s our advice: Pebble mat tile is a popular choice for showers — for one thing, it looks great. For another, it provides some texture to prevent the shower floor from getting slick. So it’s one of the safer options to help prevent accidents.  Unsanded and sanded are the two basic types of grout, but not all products are created equal. For that reason, we recommend Wesley look into Fusion Pro from Custom Building Products. Fusion Pro is a sanded grout that can be used for joints from 1/6-inch wide to 1/2-inch wide, and that’s important for pebble tile application because the grout joints will vary in size.  Moreover, it’s premixed, stain-proof, easy to use and never needs sealing.
