    1. Map Out Your Space

First, you need to pick a spot for your bocce ball court. Then, you can use paint or another way to mark the size of the court.

We’re constructing a court that measures 10 ft by 25 ft, which is half the size of a typical court. You’re welcome to modify the dimensions based on the space you have available.

    2. Build the Retaining Wall

We used Pavestone Ladera Blocks to construct the retaining wall. Our project required a stack of five blocks, and we applied Quikrete Construction Adhesive between each block to ensure the wall is sturdy. This wall serves as a retaining wall for the paver base court and doubles as a border for the court. You can adjust the height of the wall based on the slope of your yard.

    3. Pour and Compact the Paver Base

Next, you’ll need to fill the designated area with a compactable base. For the initial layers, opt for a bulk base before transitioning to Pavestone Compactable Paver Base close to the top. This choice contains less aggregate and is more similar to the sand or clay courts normally used for bocce ball.

Using a shovel, distribute the base evenly across the area, adding more where necessary.

Use a paver base compactor to compact the base into two-inch layers. (3 Echoes Content Studio)

Given that the court will be raised by 18 inches, compact the base in approximately two-inch layers using a Paver Base Compactor.

    4. Create a Border

If you plan to construct the bocce ball court on a deck or patio, the following step is crucial.

Make sure the border’s blocks are even with one another. (3 Echoes Content Studio)

Once again, we recommend using the Pavestone Ladera Blocks for the border. However, this time, they should be laid vertically to separate the court from the deck or patio.

To secure the blocks in place, use Quikrete Construction Adhesive. Lastly, use a leveler to ensure that the blocks are evenly aligned with each other.

    5. Play Ball!

Once you’ve completed all the necessary steps, it’s time to enjoy your hard work simply. Gather your loved ones and relish in the beauty of your renovated backyard.

Take out your brand new Bocce Ball Game Set and use your stunning new court. Have fun!
