Based in a 1789 Federal house, this museum boasts original murals by the itinerant artist and muralist Rufus Porter. The focus is not only on his achievements as an artist, but also as an inventor, and founder of the Scientific American magazine in 1845. The museum also celebrates the art and history of western Maine in the 1800s.
