Adding a pathway to your landscape is a great way to dress it up, and it doesn’t require much time or money. An easy, inexpensive way to do it is with Quikrete’s WalkMaker forms.
These plastic forms come in a variety of patterns that mimic brick and stone pathways. Quikrete WalkMaker is available in four designs: Basket Weave Brick, Country Stone Pattern, European Block Brick and Running Bond Brick. So, there’s an option that’s sure to match any style of home.
First, determine how many bags of Quikrete Concrete Mix you’ll need. Quikrete eliminates any guesswork with their Concrete Mix Calculator.
Shoveling concrete mix into the plastic forms is a simple, DIY-friendly project — anybody can do it! You can create customized walkways that look beautiful and have the durability and affordability of poured concrete.
You can even color each concrete paver for a more natural-looking finish that blends in with your landscape design.
Each Quikrete WalkMaker form creates a two-foot-long section of walkway using an eighty-pound bag of concrete mix.
It couldn’t be easier to use. You simply lay out the form on solid-level soil or compacted gravel and fill it with concrete. Then, remove the form and re-set it for the next section.
When everything is dry, you can fill the space between the new pavers with Quikrete’s PowerLoc Jointing Sand. Give it a mist of water, and it will harden in place.
Want a customized look? For every two 60-pound or 80-pound bags of dry concrete mix, blend one 10-ounce bottle of Quikrete Liquid Cement Color with 5 quarts of clean water. Then mix the liquid into dry concrete until the color is consistent. Add clean water as needed until you have the desired uniformity, and pour in the Quikrete WalkMaker forms.
You also can brush on a layer of play sand, or press small stones or pea gravel into the wet concrete for different surface finishes. Do this after the concrete initially sets — about one hour after placement, when it’s “thumbprint hard” but still damp.
