Reflecting on 20 years of Kitchen Renovations

In this special episode, “Today’s Homeowner” hosts Danny Lipford and Chelsea Lipford Wolf reflect on 20 years of America’s favorite home improvement show.

Specifically, 20 seasons of kitchen renovations!

Kitchen trends have changed over the years. For instance, homeowners once wanted natural wood cabinets, but now many want painted wood cabinets; wall color preferences have gone from dark to light.

However, Danny says, one thing has remained the same over the years: people want more space in their homes.

“We’ve torn down a lot more walls than we’ve ever built!” Danny jokes in the episode.

Then there is fur down. Danny and Chelsea talk about how opening that area of a home during a renovation job could be surprising — and even scary.

They also talk about the wooden valance that often ties two sets of cabinets together.

(In case you’re wondering, both fur down and that wooden valance above the kitchen sink are currently off-trend.)

Watch those reflections, along with the ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots of many kitchens we’ve remodeled, right here in this full episode of “Today’s Homeowner!”
