There are nearly 60 million homes in the U.S. that are under insulated, so it’s safe bet that a few of you have thought about adding some of the fluffy stuff to your attic or basement to rein in heating costs this winter.
This is a job that’s very do-it-yourself friendly, because it requires no special skills or tools. However, fiberglass insulation is anything but friendly to your skin. That’s why manufacturers tell you to wear long sleeves, gloves, and safety glasses when you install it.
But here’s another tip to prevent that itchy irritation. Spread a little baby powder on any area where your skin is exposed, around your neck, and on your wrists between your gloves and shirt sleeves. The powder keeps the fibers from sticking to your skin, making the job a lot easier on you.
