This is not a scientific experiment — it’s the beginning stage of what will become a stylish concrete stool!

Concrete Stools: These add beauty, color and texture to any backyard, front porch or patio. To create them, you’ll need a 5-gallon plastic bucket, a QUIK-TUBE and some concrete mix.

Coat the inside of the plastic bucket with cooking spray and pour concrete mix into the bucket.

Then insert the QUIK-TUBE (for the void) and finish pouring concrete mix into the bucket.

Preparing a plastic bottle for concrete mix
Once you’ve emptied plastic soda bottles, don’t immediately recycle them — upcycle them! They make great concrete forms for pendant lights.

Concrete Pendant Lights: When Dad finally got his dream outdoor kitchen in his last house, I got to make three concrete pendant lights for the area.

I used sliced plastic soda bottles for the molds, screwing one smaller one into the larger one and pouring concrete mix into the space between the two.

Then I attached the lighting hardware and, voila! These beauties were done.

These beautiful concrete pendant lights weren’t store-bought! I made them with my own two hands — and you can, too.

I love when my concrete forms are free — like these two plastic cups I had on hand. (Just never use them for drinking!)

Concrete Pen Cup: Need to corral pens on your desk? Then go grab two plastic cups! One should be slightly smaller than the other —and keep these cups in your garage or workshop, because they are strictly for DIY projects, not drinking. (Never drinking!)

Spray the insides of each cup with cooking spray, then trowel your concrete mix into the big cup, spreading it all around, and then insert the small cup.

Don’t you love how these concrete accessories (drawer pulls, phone stand and pen cup) tie this office’s look together? I sure do!

Want to get your creative juices flowing and make something special? The sky’s the limit with concrete mix! Just buy — or DIY – concrete molds to make any of the projects mentioned above. Or create something entirely new. Up to you!

But now is the time — let’s get it done this week!
