Soapstone may very well be the oldest work surface. This original lab countertop is extraordinarily durable, nonporous, and won’t react negatively with common kitchen spills like lemon juice or wine. Like various other stones, soapstone can be honed for a traditional matte finish. As time goes on, it oxidizes from light grey to charcoal. It’s no wonder that this beloved stone is a favorite of many kitchen designers. We sit down with three who have been working with Vermont Soapstone for years to find out what they, and their clients, love.
