Important: Always check with your local inspection department before you start your project to make sure you are compliant with your local codes and ordinances.

The Importance of P-Traps

Look under your sink. You’ve probably noticed the U-shaped pipe that connects your sink to underground sewer lines — but do you know what it does and how it works?

In a nutshell, this portion of pipe under plumbing fixtures maintains a pool of water that prevents gases from entering the home.

When you turn the water on, it fills the pipe’s dip, preventing gases from passing through. When you turn the water off, it remains there. The pool constantly replaces itself as the cycle repeats.

This way, no sewer gases seep into your home.

About the Simple Drain P-Trap

Simple Drain’s antimicrobial, flexible P-trap — which fits 1.25-inch and 1.5-inch tailpipes — is quick and easy to install.

If you’ve got five minutes and a pair of scissors, everything you need is in the kit. Just connect it at the tailpiece from your sink, feed it into your drain line, and attach the piece that creates the trap.

Simple Drain is low maintenance, with just two connections, or leak points, compared to rigid P-traps with four to eight leak points.

Plunging is easy. All you have to do is remove the loop that creates the trap, pull the flexible assembly apart, push it together and repeat the process until you’ve cleared the clog.

This product works well with all single-basin sinks, adjusts to meet your under-sink storage needs, and stays dry.

Best of all for wheelchair users? No more knee knocks! If you bump into this P-trap while wheeling under a sink with exposed plumbing, you will feel soft, flexible rubber, not pain that comes from rigid P-traps.
