Drinking water test kit.
Drinking water test kit for lead and other contaminants.

While water from municipal utilities is considered safe to drink, if you live in an older home that has copper pipes, the water can pick up lead from the solder that was used to join the pipes.

Water testing kits are available that allow you to find out if contaminants such as lead are present in your water. To reduce or eliminate contaminants in your drinking water, you can install a water filter that’s designed to remove them. Be sure to change the filter regularly following the manufacturer’s instructions.

  1. I live in Visitacion Valley, district 10 in San Francisco, CA. It is located near the southern border of San Francisco county and San Mateo County, I actually live near the border of a couple of San Mateo cities which are just bast the county line.
Anyway, there’s some new construction in my area, on the SF side, and I am concerned about the tap water quality. I know we have copper pipes, but I don’t know if there is any lead sotter. I’ll get a kit and test. My 7th grade son is autistic (high functioning and is at a regular middle school) but heavy metals cause way more problems in autistic children than in neurotypical children so I am interested in installing a water filter for the house.

Thank you for posting your video. It really helped me!!
