Bathroom towel bars are often secured only to the drywall and not the studs. Over time pressure on the towel bar can cause it to work loose. To repair this problem:

  1. Loosen the set screws under the towel bar and remove it from the wall.
  2. Loosen the bracket screws and remove the brackets from the wall.
  3. Insert toggle bolts in each bracket.
  4. If needed, enlarge the bracket holes in the drywall with a screwdriver, and insert the toggle bolts in the holes.
  5. Tighten the toggle bolts so the brackets are secure.
  6. Mount the towel rack on the wall and tighten the set screws.

  1. I have a problem with our towel bar – the hidden wall mounts (similar to those in the video) got lost when we redid the bathroom. I have had the hardest finding replacements! Do you have any ideas or resources?

  2. Question bathroom towel bar, trying to tighten it,
There are no set screws under the fixture, how do you get it off the wall.

  3. I just moved into my house (not a new one) and the problem is the bar for my towel rack falls out because whomever installed the brackets (?) didn’t do it correctly, so everything comes crashing down (except the part that is nailed in the wall that the towel ends hook on to). Is there any way to fix this?

  4. We have glass doors for our shower and the towel bar on the outside of the glass door came loose on one side. Can I use crazy glue to secure it or is there another way?

  5. The video is confusing because you drilled a hole to match the center opening in the bracket. Then you screwed the toggle bolt through the center hole of the bracket.

Immediately after that you squeezed the flaps together to push the bolt into the screw holes already in the drywall; not the hole you drilled freshly. However, the video shows the toggle bolts going through the end holes of the bracket.

I don’t see the purpose of drilling a hole in the drywall for the center hole of the bracket – the center hole is never used.
