Mobile, AL (May 10, 2018) — Place another feather in the 20-year cap for Today’s Homeowner Media as it joins Amazon’s Prime Video family.
The home improvement media company is pleased to announce that Seasons 15-18 of their top-rated national home improvement television show, “Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford,” are now online and available for streaming. In addition, the brand’s newer video series aimed at millennial home enthusiasts, “Checking In With Chelsea,” also joins the Prime Video ranks.
Currently in its 20th broadcast season, “Today’s Homeowner” TV reaches a live audience of 1.7 million weekly viewers and broadcasts in 207 of the 210 available Nielsen markets. The brand’s “Checking In With Chelsea” video series is in its fourth year of production, and has received more than 3 million views to date.
Making the move to Amazon is an opportunity for Today’s Homeowner Media to expand its viewer base and content. “Today’s Homeowner” and “Checking In With Chelsea” episodes are free to Amazon’s 90+ million Prime subscribers in the U.S., and available for purchase by other Prime Video users.
“We are excited to offer this new view-on-demand opportunity for Amazon video users,” comments host and show namesake, Danny Lipford. “Home improvement spending is expected to increase 7.5% in 2018, so we know consumers are out there looking for quality, practical information they can trust. Chelsea and I look forward to connecting with new home enthusiasts on the Amazon platform, and helping to inspire their next projects.”
The move also positions Today’s Homeowner Media to cater to the growing binge watching culture. According to a 2017 Deloitte study, 73% of US consumers say they binge-watch content (three or more episodes in one session.) At 20 minutes each, the 88 available “Today’s Homeowner” episodes constitute nearly 30 hours of DIY programming, a dream-come-true for home enthusiasts who enjoy the binge indulgence.
Binge watchers can also treat themselves to 24 episodes, averaging 9 minutes each, of “Checking In With Chelsea,” which offers tutorials on Pinterest-inspired projects and small repairs and upgrades for the home.
Additional episodes for both programs are set to join Amazon’s Prime Video offerings during the third quarter of 2018 with new seasons being added at the end of each broadcast year. Prime Video users can find “Today’s Homeowner” and “Checking In With Chelsea” in the Educational genre, and also by searching for the show titles.
