Simple Solution:

In just a few minutes, you can create handy storage shelves along any wall that has exposed wall studs, such as in a garage, basement or shed. Measure the distance between each stud, then cut a 2×4 shelf to fit snugly in between. Set the shelf between the studs, and attach it with 3-in. drywall screws. And if the wall is framed with 2x6s, cut the shelves from 2×6 stock.
