Simple Solution

Shoe rack for mudroom or garage

To keep shoes and boots from tracking dirt and mud into your house, make a shoe rack for the garage or mudroom.

All you need is a 1×4 and some coat hooks. Lay the 1×4 on a flat surface and then set the hooks on it, spacing them about 4½ inches apart. And leave a 5½ inch space between each pair.

Screw the hooks to the 1×4, then mount it to the garage or mudroom wall, about 16 inches off the floor.

Now use the rack to hang shoes, particularly running shoes and work boots — anything that gets dirty, muddy and wet.
