Homeowner August McWhirter is a busy mom who needed to clear out the clutter and organize her garage, increase storage space, and create a drop zone for her kids to store their shoes and backpacks.
Easy Attic Storage Solution
While there’s plenty of floored storage space above the garage, there was no easy way to access it. To remedy this problem a Versa Lift electric storage lift was installed in the garage ceiling.
The Versa Lift comes in two sizes, the model 24 has a 20¾” by 44” platform and can lift up to 200 pounds with room for 15 cubic feet. The larger model 32 has a 28¾” by 56” platform and can lift up to 250 pounds with 35 cubic feet of space.
To make climbing up the drop down attic stairs easier, a Versa-Rail safety railing was installed around the attic stairs.

To eliminate any eight-legged creatures lurking around the house, we applied Miss Muffet’s Revenge, from Wet & Forget, which kills spiders and keeps them away for up to 12 months.
Drop Zone Storage Space
We also converted an unused mud room off the garage in the house into the perfect drop zone for her two kids by adding a built-in bench that included:

- A storage shelf on the wall.

- A painted bench with a beadboard back.

- Roll out storage drawers underneath the bench for shoes.
- Hooks for coats and backpacks.
