The pricing of Timberline Shingles is estimated per square. A square is equivalent to 100 square feet. In general, the price of GAF’s Timberline HDZ Shingles, GAF’s flagship and one of their most popular roofing shingles cost range from $90 to $125.
For their Timberline UHD Shingles (Ultra High Definition), the cost ranges from $125 – $150. The following pricing applies to materials or products alone. It doesn’t include the other costs to take into account as well, which is the cost of installation and other accessories.

Installation
The roofing shingles must be stored on leveled and ventilated surface or area with a cover. The area should also have a maintained maximum temperature of about 110°F (43°C). Also, the shingles should not be stored in places with direct exposure to sunlight, near radiators, or steam pipes to prevent unnecessary damages.
Prepare the roof deck before installation and ensure that the roof or installation area of the shingles is clean, damage-free, and sturdy. This applies to both new and remodeled roofs.
The installation of an underlayment underneath the shingles is required by various code organizations since it also has various benefits, such as preventing reaction between asphalt shingles and wood decking and preventing rain from reaching the inside of the house.
To install an underlayment, GAF recommends using a breather-type underlayment, such as the brands Deck-Armor™ or GAF Shingle-Mate®
When an underlayment is installed, use a breather-type underlayment, such as GAF Shingle-Mate®, GAF Tiger Paw™ underlayment, or Deck-Armor™. You can also use the underlayment approved by the manufacturer of the shingle you purchased.
Moreover, GAF recommends that the fasteners used during installation should only be aluminum or zinc-coated steel, roofing nails measuring 3/8″ to 7/16″ in diameter that is smooth, barbed, or deformed. Before nailing the roofing shingles, measure and fasten a string line first to secure the shingles in place and keep them in a neat row.
Fasteners should also be able to penetrate the wood or plywood decks at least 3/4″ or 19mm deep. For an enhanced nailing pattern and stronger wind coverage, use at least six nails when installing per shingle.
Care And Maintenance
It’s necessary to conduct regular inspections at least twice per year—once during the spring and another one during the fall season to help protect your roofing system.
It’s also best to inspect your roof for any damages after a severe weather condition, such as storms, high winds, or hailstorms.
