It’s one of the most popular questions I get: how can I clean the moss and algae off my roof? Growth, like moss and algae, can compromise the lifespan of your roofing material. But improper cleaning methods can do just as much damage, if not more.

There are many commercial solutions available for treating and removing rooftop buildup, but care must be taken anytime you are working on a roof. Safety measures, such as specially designed boots and safety harnesses, should always be used.

You should also make sure to protect any landscaping from the possibility of chemical runoff from the cleaning solution.

But my best advice is to leave roof cleaning to the professionals. They do this work on a regular basis and can get your roof sparkling clean without any risk to you, and that is worth the investment.
