Questions Answered on This Week’s Show

Hour 1

I currently have the bubbling aluminum siding situation. I do not know when the house was last painted, but once I clean and scrape the bubbles, will I have to worry about my new paint bubbling because of the previously incorrectly done paint job? Will that old paint continue to bubble and peel under my new oil primer?

Hour 2

I have entry door with two side lights. Instead of replacing the whole unit can I remove the old door off of hinges, order a upgraded door, and use the same framing and hinges?

Jean in GA
We added eight feet onto our kitchen. The crawl space under the addition is not connected to our original basement, so it’s exposed to all the elements and humidity. The builders did not insulate this area, so we have called them to complete this for us since it should have been done. I do not feel that paper backed insulation will work, as we live in the south and it’s very humid in the summer, and I would worry about mold and mildew. What should be used to insulate the flooring in this area?

Jim in TX
I have a very long gravel driveway. How do I kill weeds growing in the gravel using household products? I’m not concerned with killing grass but would like to find a way to control weed growing. Everything I try, such a Round-Up, works for a short while, but it’s expensive and the weeds come back worse than when I started. HELP!!!

Don in IL
I finished my garage floor with a two-part epoxy paint and applied colored chips, then applied a clear coat. After two years the clear coat is dull looking and flaking where the sun hits it. Is there any way I can remove the clear coat in this area without damaging the paint underneath and install new clear coat?

Leanna in AR
We have put a heavy black plastic on top the dirt in our crawlspace, but can still smell a musty odor. It’s causing me not to be able to work, due to bronchial infections, in my sewing room, which is in the other side of the poured wall from the crawlspace. HELP!

Janie in TN
My husband put Thompson’s deck stain on our deck this past October, and over the winter it has started to peel off. What can we get to take the stain off completely?

Teri in WA
I watched your video on how to fix an outdoor spigot, and have done most of it. I took off the packing nut, but nothing else can be removed? I was going to check the washer(s) but can’t get the rest off? It almost looks like one whole piece? What should I do?

Tammy in FL
I have rippled glass I my bathroom window, but I don’t think it gives enough privacy. What can I do to assure my guests have total privacy when in the shower?
