My husband put down an epoxy coating on our concrete floor and after a year, it’s still off-gassing and making me sick. What can I do to stop this?

Nancy in SC
Years ago the tile around the bathtub was painted to get rid of the ugly green. Now we have let it go too long and have some areas that are peeling off. We would like to repaint it. Do you have any suggestions?

John in AL
We have pine, oak, magnolia trees around the house and the roof is badly stained. What can I use to clean it that won’t affect the granules?

Elaine in PA
I’ve had 2 floods in my basement in the last 15 years. They were not due to weather. One was a sewage backup and the other was a refrigerator water line that came disconnected without knowing it. I am going to buy some new wooden cabinets for my basement and I’d like to know what I can raise them up on to prevent damage in the event of a future flood. What it would look like is not my biggest concern but I was wondering if something plastic would make sense and if so, what is available? I don’t like the idea of cinder blocks.

William in NH
I currently own a home which was built in 1977, in my upstairs bathroom there is a window where the shower is. The wooden casings and stool are showing signs of wear, rot, etc. from the years of use. My questions are: is this something I could replace (two left thumb kind of guy)? If so do you have some kind of cheat sheet or step by step guide?

Jay in TN
How do you remove wallpaper whenever the walls appear to be plaster without damaging the wall?

Fred in AZ
I have 2×4 walls and 2×6 ceiling joists. My builder wants to put R-13 in the walls and R-19 in the ceilings. Is this the maximum R-value I can put in these places?

Keller in ME
My daughter and husband just spent a ton of money for kitchen cabinets and one came broken. Their “gulp!” moment: fiberboard underneath the finish. I am appalled! They believed they were buying plywood- based cabinets. Will this stand up over time?

Anita in OH
My mother’s house was built in the 1980’s. I’ve started noticing dark spots in the linoleum. The house is on a slab. Is this from moisture and can I repair this?

Ray in FL
I just used a high gloss oil base paint on my wood bathroom trim and doors. I would like to change the color with the same type paint. Do I have to re-sand and re-prime 5 day old paint?

Linda in AL
I heard you talking about the tip to stop squeaky wood floors. Can I use the same thing on a loose piece of Astrobrick in my kitchen?

Melvin in AL
How difficult is it to transform my existing den fireplace into an electric fireplace. I currently have gas logs, no longer in use.

Brandon in IN
Right now my range hood is recirculating and I want to vent it outside. I am wondering if it is okay to vent through my bath exhaust vent pipe by somehow using a Y type fitting if there is such a thing.

Kenneth in CA
I would like to update kitchen cabinets without tearing countertops out.

Sylvia
How do you remove the little feet on ivy that was growing on a brick wall?

Where does the hose from the dishwasher go to the trap when you have a garbage disposal?

Can you advise me on how to remove mirrored tiles held on with Velcro? I don’t want to break the mirrors.
