Jane in Pennsylvania has a shed with a 30-year-old paint job. She wants to know how she can revive the old shed and make sure it’ll last another 30 years.

We tell Jane to search for a recommended painter — word-of-mouth and online reviews can help. But before she has anyone begin painting, she should check to make sure there isn’t any rotted wood. Given the age of the shed, there likely is.
