Locking in Pavers

It’s pretty unsettling to be strolling on a paver walkway only to feel the pavers shifting each time you step on them, which is why locking them in place is very important.

Start by cutting a small trench along each side of the walkway, and then mix up some concrete and carefully trowel into the trench to create small concrete curbs. This will keep the pavers from trying to spread out.

Next, head to the home improvement center and pick up some locking sand fortified with special polymers. Sprinkle it over all the walkway, and use a broom to brush it into the spaces between the pavers.

Clean all the excess sand off the paver faces, then lightly mist the sand to activate the polymers. This will bond the joints and guarantee a stable walkway for years to come.
