Cleaning Grease Stains on Wood Decks

Backyard barbeques are a great way to enjoy a long weekend, but accidental spills by the chef can make more than just a mess, especially on wood decks. Organic stains from foods can be hard to clean if not taken care of right away.

First thing, use paper towels to blot up any grease. Any excessive amounts can also be absorbed using kitty litter.

Next, combine equal parts warm water with white vinegar, and apply it to the stain with a rag or sponge. Use a gentle circular motion to work in the vinegar solution without applying too much pressure. You may need to do this several times to work the stain out of the wood pores.

As long as the stain is attacked immediately after it happens, you should be able to remove it very effectively.
