LED Light Bulbs Are Energy Efficient Eco-Friendly Choice

LED light bulbs, or Light Emitting Diodes, have many advantages over incandescent and even CFL bulbs. LED bulbs are:

  • Energy efficient
  • Long lasting
  • More durable
  • Require no warm up
  • Eco-friendly
  • Produce no interference

While they used to be mainly used around the home for Christmas lights and landscape lighting, LED light bulbs are now available for recessed light fixtures and other lighting applications, both inside and outside your home.

The Light Emitting Diode, or LED bulb, is really starting to really make its mark on the green light sockets of the world. In the past they were okay for say dim accent lights, low-voltage landscape lights, or maybe the strings of lights on the Christmas tree; but not for standard fixtures like recessed lights.

Now, as technology continued to develop, you started seeing LED bulbs that cost about $100, which is still a little pricey for practically everyone, but today you can buy one for under $50. That’s still a little rich for my blood, but the numbers do add up better. Here’s what I mean.

An LED bulb lasts about ten times longer than a CFL. That means you can spend about the same amount of money for one LED over its lifetime as you would for the same amount of incandescent bulbs needed for the same fixture.
