Todd and Claire West want to free up some space in their garage so it can look nice and be more efficient. In addition, Todd plans to use the space to park a classic car he’s been working on.
First, we removed items from the garage, storing some in the shed and donating or giving away any items the Wests didn’t plan on keeping.
Not sure what to do with some of your extra stuff, but just know you want to get rid of it? Create a sidewalk marketplace for it — and mark everything ‘free!’ That’s a surefire way to get it out of your house and free up storage. And that worked like a charm for Todd and Claire.
Rework all cabinetry
The Wests have some nice cabinets, but we need to sand them to get them in better shape, paint them a consistent color and carefully choose items to store in them. The goal is to keep this place neat and clean, so most of the stuff that invaded this space before is headed to the shed.
Complete floor coating
The concrete floor was pretty beat up and stained when we first saw it. We knew there was one stylish solution for it: Daich Coatings. We were able to roll on epoxy coating and sprinkle some chips on it for variety and interest. It couldn’t be easier, but it made an instant impact.
Paint the walls and ceiling
The floor wasn’t the only thing worse for the wear. The walls and ceiling needed some fresh coats of paint. So, we patched the drywall and tackled that project, selecting a minty accent wall at the entrance to contrast with the gray walls and white ceiling.
