Sometimes thinking green can leave a very good taste in your mouth, especially if you pull your slow cooker out of storage. Sometimes referred to as a Crock Pot, this appliance was very popular in the early seventies. The energy use of a slow cooker will vary depending on what part of the country you live in, but on the average it will only cost you anywhere from ten cents to a quarter to run for 8 hours. But the savings goes beyond energy. Because you typically cook an entire meal in a crock pot, you have less to clean up, which saves not only energy but also water. Then you have the bonus savings. Since you just put everything in the pot and walk away, you’re also saving time. Now that’s what I like to call a triple green savings!
