Paint Cabinets
With all the cabinet doors prepped and sanded, Beth and Jason prep and prime the cabinet boxes, and Chelsea and Beth spray-paint the cabinet doors White Dove. They use an airless paint sprayer, which really speeds up the project.
Also, we paint the walls the color Lattice.
Install New Range Hood
Whenever Beth does any cooking, the family has to live with the smells long afterward. That’s because of a range hood that doesn’t vent to the outside, but instead recirculates the air through the kitchen.
For this modern kitchen upgrade, we’re cutting an access hole in the home for a new range hood. Then, on the roof, we cut another hole for the vent pipe before returning to the kitchen. We are lucky because no ceiling joists or roof rafters are in the way, so this will be a clean installation.
Once we mark the holes in the bracket, we can drill pilot holes and attach the bracket with long lag screws.
To support the weight of the fan, Broan uses a rigid metal cage that slides over the pipe and attaches to the ceiling bracket. Next, a two-piece stainless-steel cover slips over the cage.
Before we connect the 480 CFM blower assembly to the cage, we lower the bottom piece of the cover into position and secure the weathertight housing on the roof.
