To reduce the air conditioning bills in your home:
- Install a tinted film on the inside of your windows to reduce the amount of heat coming in your house by over 60% and prevent harmful UV rays from damaging fabrics and furnishings.
- Add awnings to sunny windows to reduce the temperature of a room by up to 15 degrees and save 25% on the air conditioning for that room.
- Plant shade trees that shed their leaves in winter on the sunny (south and west) sides of your house.
What about using a newer unit? I heard getting a newer unit can save hundreds of dollars from a unit being 10 to 20 or more years old. Is that true?
I had a lennox 16 seer heat pump put in and the thud in the winter when it goes to defrost mode is horrible it caused the seals in my single hung windows near the unit to fail .I(t is a twin scroll compressor with matching indoor unit and has not saved me a penny on utilities .It claims to give a more even heat and air and it has already broken down 4 times since installed in 2014 .Put in by the number 1 installer s per lennox sight .Still is not running right .I am trying t implement the lemon law
