How to Start Seeds for Your Garden Indoors

Multiple seedlings growing in container

Step 6: Thin Seedlings

The seedlings will sprout generic leaves first, which will soon be replaced by “true” leaves that look more like the adult plant. Once true leaves emerge, use scissors to gently snip off the weaker seedlings, leaving one growing in each pot.

  1. I enjoyed the article, “How to start vegetable seeds indoors”. I have several fluorescent lights in my house that I thought I would use but you do mention that you need full-spectrum (daylight) bulbs. I take it, these bulbs are different that everyday fluorescent bulbs and to be effective the full-spectrum bulbs are necessary.

    Thanks,
