Danny Lipford: Recently we attended the 2014 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, and we found some pretty cool stuff.
Liza Hausman: So Houzz is a website—an app—for building, remodeling, and design. It’s built specifically for this industry. And it really helps homeowners gain confidence about their building and remodeling and decorating projects by providing them with the tools they need for everything from start to finish for their project.
That’s everything from inspiration—we have more than two-and-a-half-million spectacular photos of home interiors and exteriors—and they can use those to get inspiration and ideas for what they want to do. And use that also to communicate with their spouse or partner or the professional that they hire, but exactly what they want out of their project.
We also have a lot of educational tools. So articles written by experts about how to hire the right professional, or how to choose the right countertop materials and the latest products that are available.
As well as a great community and forum where they can get advice, post their design dilemmas, and hear from both professionals and other homeowners who’ve been through the process about their opinion and suggestions that they have for homeowners going through the process now.
Another great tool we have for homeowners is a terrific pro directory. Not only can they see the best pros, but they can see images of their work, read reviews from past clients, actually interact with them directly on the platform, and really get a real 360-degree view of what it would be like to work with that professional before they contact that person. It really helps to add a level of comfort.
