How to resurface concrete that has glueform residue from the past

Randy from Tennessee is renovating an outdoor area adjacent to his home and has a question about an old concrete patio. Randy says, “We bought this house about two years ago and it was built in 1972 and it was a model house for a subdivision that really never got off the ground. But we’re into it now and we’re starting to do some renovations and most of our renovations have been outside. We added a pool area and there is a back porch that is adjacent to the pool and we are wanting to do something to the concrete. And what we had noticed is that it has been painted, but the paint is coming up, and we are seeing glue like they had outdoor carpet out there at one time too. So my question is, what’s the best as far as just repaint that? Or do I need to sand this back down to the concrete?

How to resurface a butcher block top that’s been treated with mineral oils

Jeanne from Illinois wants to know, “The house was built like ten years ago and, you know, they told me to treat it with mineral oil. But over the years I don’t always get that done on a regular basis. And I saw your show last week where they use the Waterlox. I’m kind of curious if I can use (Waterlox) on it? But because we have oiled it, is it still possible to do that?”

Troubles with poly painting

Sheri from New York says, “On third coat of poly, it seems there are areas that the poly didn’t take. Can I sand and apply a 4th coat? On the second coat there were so many bubbles that I practically had to take that coat down.”
