    Daltile Saddle Brook Farmhouse Overview

    Daltile Saddle Brook Farmhouse
    Source: Daltile.com

Saddle Brook Farmhouse is one of the beautiful color choices in Dactile’s series, Saddle Brook Glazed Porcelain. It has a hardwood visual with various natural wood patterns that mimic the richness of authentic hardwood floors.

Since it’s part of the Saddle Brook Glazed Porcelain series, the other color options include Oak Trail, Walnut Creek, and Gravel Wood. Unfortunately, saddle Brook Farmhouse only has one tile size option, which is 6 X 36 inches long, 0.3125 inches thick, and 5.875 inches wide. The tile type is a field tile with a rectangular or plank shape. It also has a trim option called Bullnose, which is 3 X 18 inches long.

It also has a high shade variation, namely V3, which gives the tiles a look of beauty and dimension and highly contrasting appearance due to the variation of colors, shades, and textures present between individual pieces.

The price range of Saddle Brook Farmhouse ranges from $3 to $8  per sq. ft., depending on the retail service center. It can also be bought in cartons or boxes, covering 13.05 square feet per case with nine tiles inside. One package or carton costs around $34.2 to $75.56.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Saddle Brook Farmhouse

This section should cover everything from costs and guarantee to maintenance and installation either as an advantage or disadvantage

    • Natural wood appearance.. Saddle Brook Farmhouse utilizes Reveal Imaging™ technology, which provides the glazed porcelain tile an authentic hardwood appearance by incorporating various natural wood tones or patterns and shades. It helps achieve the richness and warmth of authentic hardwood you want without compromise.
    • Cost-effective. Using a Saddle Brook Farmhouse product for your house is cost-effective because it’s not as expensive as other flooring options. Its price ranges from $3 to $8  per sq. ft. and only around $34.2 to $75.56 per case or box. It’s an excellent choice if you want an affordable alternative to hardwood flooring without compromising quality.
    • Scratch Resistance. It has a Scratch Hardness (MOHS) scale of 8.0, meaning it has a scratch resistance that can withstand wear, breakage, dents, cracks, and scratches made by high-traffic movements, making it ideal for areas prone to daily household activities as it holds up very well than a standard ceramic tile.
    • Ease of Maintenance. Due to the high durability and high moisture resistance of the glazed porcelain, Saddle Brook Farmhouse provides ease of maintenance because it doesn’t need special sealing to keep moisture and water out. You can clean the glazed porcelain tile and wipe the water right off without causing damage using an all-purpose or non-oil-based household cleaner.

    Keep in Mind:

    • Difficult to Install. Saddle Brook Farmhouse can be installed by two installation methods: Grout and Thin-set installation. But since it uses glazed porcelain tile, installation can be more challenging than other flooring types. It’s denser and heavier, harder to cut, and more difficult to layout properly, making it not DIY-friendly material. It’s best to hire a professional tiler than do it yourself to prevent unnecessary damage to the porcelain tiles during installation.
    • Difficult to Repair. It’s also more difficult to remove and replace once it’s damaged because of its level of installation difficulty. Repairing would also result in expensive costs due to labor and materials fees. But, it also has 1 year warranty coverage, so you can be rest assured that your tiles will be repaired when damaged.

How to Install Daltile Saddle Brook Farmhouse Tiles

Here are the following steps for installing Saddle Brook Farmhouse:

    1. Prepare Surface

Before installation, remember to prepare the surface first. Ensure the installation area is smooth, clean, dry, and free from damage, soap, or grease. Any uneven, damaged, or loose areas must be leveled, repaired, and patched to ensure the proper installation of tiles.

    2. Layout the Tiles

After the surface preparation, begin by marking the center point of the room’s walls and lay out a row of loose tiles along the center lines (in both directions). Don’t forget to leave enough space for uniform joints using tile spacers.

    3. Apply the Adhesive

Choose the right adhesive you’re going to use and carefully read and follow the precautions and instructions. Spread a 1/4″ coat on one of the grid area’s surfaces using the flat side of the trowel. Next is to comb the adhesive into the standing ridges using the notched side of the trowel at a 45-degree angle. Don’t forget to remove the excess adhesive to leave a uniform, ridged setting bed.

    4. Cut the Tiles

Measure the tiles and carefully mark them with a felt tip or pencil to ensure you’re cutting them properly according to the area measurements. Next, cut the tiles using a tile cutter to ensure straight or diagonal cuts. For curved cuts, use a nipper. You must also smoothen the sharp-cut edges with a carborundum stone.

    5. Set the Tiles

Remember to mix the glazed porcelain tiles from several cartons if you want a blended effect.

Start the installation in the room’s center, one grid at a time. Start putting the first tile in the grid’s corner and move outward, and set the tiles using a slight twisting motion one at a time. After setting each tile, insert a tile spacer or leave equal joints between tiles and fit perimeter tiles in each grid, leaving a 1/4″ gap between the wall and tile. Also, make sure to finish each grid before moving to the next one.

Once the grid is completely installed, tap the tiles using a hammer, woodblock, or rubber mallet to ensure a level plane and good bone. Also, don’t forget to remove excess adhesive from the grid’s joints using a putty knife and carefully wipe the tile with a damp sponge. Let the tiles set for 24 hours, and don’t walk on the tiles while they are still setting.

    6. Grout Joints

After 24 hours, you can now grout the joints. Again, remember to follow the precautions and instructions on the grout package and use the grout in about 30 minutes.

First, remove the tile spacers and then spread the grout on the tile surface, using a squeegee or rubber grout float at a 45-degree angle. Next, remove the excess grout from the tile surface by scraping the float diagonally across the tiles. Then, wait for the grout to set slightly for about 15 to 20 minutes and clean the surface with any grout residue and smoothen using a damp sponge. Don’t forget to polish the surface with a soft cloth once the grout is dry, hard, and once the haze forms.

Do not use the area and wait for 72 hours before using it.

Where Daltile Saddle Brook Farmhouse Can Be Used

Saddle Brook Farmhouse can be installed on floors, walls, and countertops. It’s best used as flooring for spaces with high-traffic activities, such as living room areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, and laundry rooms.

It can also be great as a backsplash choice for kitchen areas. However, Saddle Brook Farmhouse is not recommened for usage in shower floors and exterior floors as it can easily get damaged due to the oscillating factors.

Saddle Brook Farmhouse is best combined with neutral furniture in color as it can complement the glazed porcelain to create a perfectly balanced look. It also helps make the warmth and richness of the realistic hardwood look of the glazed porcelain tile stand out. It also looks great when paired with marble or natural stone fixtures and metallic accents to bring a timeless and sophisticated look to the house’s space.

In addition, Saddle Brook Farmhouse can be paired beautifully with concrete and painted surfaces, leather, and woven fabrics to enhance the natural, earthy tones of the hardwood visual for a modern vibe.
