The garage is often one of the most overlooked spaces in a home, turning into a catch-all or overflow for storage. However, you can reclaim the space and transform your garage into a beautiful and functional addition with QUIKRETE two-part Epoxy Kit Garage Floor Coating. The kit is a cost effective solution that will leave your garage floor with a showroom quality high-gloss finish and exceptional durability.

To begin, be sure to prepare the surface by cleaning it thoroughly with the Cleaner, Etcher & Degreaser that comes in the QUIKRETE Garage Floor Coating Epoxy Kit. The Cleaner, Etcher & Degreaser not only cleans the surface, it ensures that the pores of the concrete will accept the coating and create a permanent bond.

After applying, allow the Cleaner, Etcher & Degreaser to work for about 60 seconds, then scrub the surface with a stiff bristle brush before rinsing with water. Then, mix the two-part epoxy together and immediately start the application process.

First use a small bristle brush to apply the coating around the trim of the room before using a roller or brush to apply over the full surface. After completing a two-foot by six-foot area, dispense the color flakes found in the kit for added decorative flare. Repeat the process until the entire garage floor is covered.

For best results, consider a day with a temperature above 45 degrees Fahrenheit but under 90 degrees to assure the mixture dries properly.

To increase the level of protection and shine to the garage floor, consider applying QUIKRETE High-Gloss Coating the next day.

  1. Used your product as directed while applying 2nd coat had door open and rain hit part of floor already painted 2 days ago. Floor starting to bubble and peel ? Why? Makes me wonder what will happen when vehicle is in garage ?

  2. Do you have chemical resistant epoxy coating? we’ll be applying this coating to the haz-waste storage bay floor.

  3. i have brand new garage and newly poured floor, it is about 30 days since we poured concrete, do i have prep the surface? it is very smooth finish now.. we haven’t parked a car in it yet or used it

    • Hi, Larry,
It’s a popular expression because it so often rings true: “Better safe than sorry!”
While you may not have parked a car in the garage or used it, cleaning the floor with Quikrete Cleaner, Etcher & Degreaser not only cleans the surface, it also ensures that the pores of the concrete will accept the coating and create a permanent bond.
Thirty days is a long time, so it’s probably best to go ahead and prep that surface.
      Good luck!
