Hurricane 360 Spin Mop

  • Use: Bucket and mop for cleaning floors.
  • Cost: $39.98 + $12.99 S&H = $52.97 total
  • Rating: ★★☆☆☆

The Hurricane 360 Spin Mop is an “as seen on TV” product that includes a micro-fiber mop with a tilting swivel head, and a special bucket that has a foot powered spinner to clean the mop and remove excess water.

The mop itself worked fairly well, though the tilting swivel head was a bit clunky to use. The foot powered spinning bucket also worked, but seemed more like a gimmick than an actual advantage.

While the Hurricane 360 Spin Mop did work as advertised, it was expensive and didn’t offer much of an advantage over a conventional mop and bucket. We rated it two out of five stars. Watch this video to find out more.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
Danny Lipford: Okay, April, I’ve got an interesting one to show you here.

April Spencer: Okay.

Danny Lipford: This is called the Hurricane 360 Spin Mop. That’s a big name, huh?

April Spencer: Yeah.

Danny Lipford: Well, here’s the way it’s supposed to work. You push this pump, and it spins. So, you put it in there. And then, to dry it just a bit—oh, that’s heavy.

They say it holds up to like 10 times its weight in water. Then you spin it, and you hold onto this little spin thing up here. And you get a little exercise on your calf there, too, so.

April Spencer: Yeah.

Danny Lipford: Since April has the home field advantage in this kitchen, she’s giving the Hurricane Mop a test run to see how it handles the hard-to-reach spots.

The tilting swivel head is a little clunky, but it does allow pretty good access around obstacles. And the micro-fiber mop seems to be pretty effective at cleaning.

You see that thing that spins in the bottom down there?

April Spencer: Uh-huh.

Danny Lipford: It’s to allow you to spin it. So, again, holding onto that thing. And then it’ll clean it out, instead of dipping it up and down like you normally do. But, here’s the thing. It’s 40 dollars, plus 13 dollars postage and handling—it’s $53.

April Spencer: It’s kind of expensive.

Danny Lipford: Yeah, I mean, how much is a regular mop, six or seven dollars? So would it be worth that to you?

April Spencer: I don’t think so.

Danny Lipford: So, April isn’t impressed.

April Spencer: I think that the regular kind of, you just kind of pull and turn to squeeze it?

Danny Lipford: Right. Yeah, yeah.

April Spencer: And that works just as good.

Danny Lipford: And, neither am I. The mop itself does a pretty good job at picking up dirt, but the foot-powered spinning bucket seems to be more of a gimmick than an actual advantage.

And, at $53, we expected to be blown away, and we weren’t. We give it a two out of five stars.

  1. I loved this mop up until the actual bucket part that spins suddenly stripped or come off track and no longer spins. I work in homes n my client has one as well and hers did the same thing as mine

  2. really liked the mop, but the spin mechanism stripped and I can’t find a place that has repair parts. Won’t buy same manufacturer if I can’t repair it.

  3. I love the spin mop but the actual bucket is broken an I can’t use it anymore. The spinner is stuck at the bottom of the bucket. What we pay for the spin mop, it shld be replaced by were we bought it from but that’s not the case.

  4. Junky spin mechanism in tub doesn’t last long and no way to replace. Other makers are better engineered and parts are available and u tube shows how to replace. Another boondoggle of american marketing.

  5. I love this mop, but the spin part in the bucket does not spin. It no longer works and this is the second one that I had. It should last for the price that you pay for this spin mop. You can’t repair it and I assume they don’t guarantee it is because it seems that all the comments have the same issue. Will not buy this again since this was the second time and they both broke.

  6. I have bought two sets of these. of which the bucket stopped working in about 3 mos of use. on both sets. I did call the company the first time and they sent two replacement sets back out to me, but now the same has happened again, I use this mop every day, love the idea and the mop, but the buckets need a lot of work on them plastic gears just do not hold up for the price of the set. will never buy another or suggest to any one to buy it.

  7. The problem I’m having is the mop head won’t come off the way they advertise it does to wash it. It only did it once, and then that mechanism to be able to unscrew the mop head does not work any more. Unfortunately you didn’t mention this in your kitchen test because that IS what makes this mop different than others. You can’t detach the mop heads in less expensive mops and throw them in the washer.

  8. I purchased the mop and bucket about a year ago, really liked it. Then I broke the mop attachment trying to replace the mop head. So i ordered a new handle, did not like the $20 something price tag, but it did come with a new mop head… just noticed today that when I put the mop in the bucket to spin it dry…. I just have to push down on the mop handle not the foot pedal…cool should have been in the directions, that little tiny 3inch square paper that came in the box.
Now I like it a little more

  9. I used this spin mop 2 or 3 times and liked it quite well! Today after a few spins, the handle locked. I can’t get the mechanism to turn to let the mop spin. What has happened?

  10. Hi I bought the heurican spin mop. Love the product after a few wash the gear broke were can I get a replacement mechanism for my speed mop please help tank you

  11. The Hurricane Mop is ok at best.
The largest issue we have with this is the length of the pole.
Way too short for average folks and if you are tall by the time you are done moping floors your back is killing you.
You would think 1 extra pole extension would be included or at least available for order.
But according to the representative I spoke to it is not. If I still had the box I would return it in a heartbeat.
It is useless for us due to the length of the pole.
Therefore I give it an F.

  12. I bought the mop a few months ago and for a time it worked well. Then the cowell that secures the mop head to the handle . Well it cracked and the mop head would not stay in place which makes the whole system useless. Unless there are some changes in construction this will become another boondoggle sold on line and I would rate this an F- so my suggestion is retool the whole system.

  14. I have one of the orginal Hurricane mop and bucket. I got the mop head off to wash it and now I can’t get it back on the pole…help!!!

  15. I have purchased two Hurricane Spin Mops. I could not get the mop head to release for laundering on the first mop, and now I have the same problem with the second mop. I have referred to the manufacturer’s instructions for removing the mop head and have watched a U-Tube clip on how to release it—to no avail.
