Water stains on a ceiling are usually caused by roof or plumbing leaks. Follow these steps when covering over a water stain on your ceiling:
-
- Start by finding the cause of the leak, and repairing the problem to prevent damage in the future.
-
- Purchase a spray can of stain blocking primer or sealer.
-
- Spray cans work better than a brush, especially on popcorn or textured ceilings.
-
- Apply a light coat of the stain blocking primer over the stain to cover it while avoiding dripping.
- If the primer doesn’t match the color of the ceiling, you may need to paint the entire ceiling once the primer has dried.

What a pain! Every time I click on a video to review the contents and then want to return to the “table of videos” to look for more, I have to start all over again at page 1 of 29. It’s more than a bit tiresome to scroll through all the previous pages to continue my search. Two suggestions:
Allow for access to a specific page of the video listings, and also permit searches of the videos by content keywords.
Hi Hal,
If you hit the “back” button on your browser after clicking on a video, you’ll be taken back to the page you were on. Also, since each of our video browsing pages has a unique URL, you can copy and paste the URL or bookmark the page to return to it later. As far as searching the videos, there’s a custom search box next to each video that allows you to search our site for posts related to the keywords you type in.
Hope that helps!
I had entered for the back yard patio make over sometime back. Was wondering had someone been chosen yet. Thanks

Thanks for this. Never knew there was such a thing as a Stain Sealer spray.
water has stained the fabric in my motor home. is there any way to remove it? Thank you
Hi, Sue,
Can you please elaborate — what kind of fabric is this? And where is it located?
I recently found that the ceiling above bath tub has a wet kind of soggy area. Went on roof and found (hopefully) the reason for leak. Sealed it already, and it has been drying out now for about a week. What should the next step be? I have been told to cut out the wet area and then mud over possibly? I honestly don’t know what to do and am trying to fix myself at a reasonable price. Am a single mom trying to fix the issue. Please any advice helps?

Hi…I have a mini home with vinyl on all the walls .over the years they have some nicks and a dent that’s in need of repair.. the walls seem textured feel all painted in ok greens and browns when I take on the job of poly filling and sanding, I think there will be a noticeable area where it was repaired after painting because the fill will be sanded and smooth as opposed the rest of the painted vinyl walls Is there a paint on the market to fit this? Thanks Barbara
Hi, Barbara!
We recommend painting with a heavy nap roller (three-quarter-inch or better).
Good luck!
Great info. Lucky mee I found your site by accident (stumbleupon).
I have book marked it for later!
I have water damage to my ceiling. I have tried the kilz paint and also used the spray. When I paint the ceiling over the kilz, it shows a shinny coat. The kilz says you can use for water based paints and oil based paints. If so, why is the spots still showing shinny paint and how do I fix it?
