When painting or scraping a ceiling, it’s not necessary to take down a pendant light or ceiling fan. Instead, loosen and lower the canopy from the ceiling, then slip a large plastic trash bag over the entire fixture. Secure the bag with a twist tie. The bag will protect the fixture from paint spatters and dust.
