Old attic with soot stains and moisture
If your attic shows signs of moisture, you don’t have to immediately remove the roof. There may be other solutions. (DepositPhotos)
Danny and Joe welcome callers’ questions each week on the Today’s Homeowner Radio Show. Here’s a question from our Dec. 14 broadcast: Greg notices moisture in his attic and he’s getting mixed solutions from experts he’s spoken to about the problem. Greg reaches out to Danny and Joe to set the record straight. We tell Greg that he likely has a leak in the attic. He will have to seal up any leaks coming up from the living space. Also, Greg can put Styrofoam between the rafters to see if that solves the problem.  The worst option would be removing the roof all together.
