DIY hand sander made of PVC pipe and sandpaper
Need to sand by hand? Make these tools to sand flat and curved surfaces.

Here’s how to make hand-sanding tools for both flat and contoured surfaces. First, start with a piece of sandpaper and coat the back of it with spray adhesive. Take a paint stick, press it down into the adhesive and then trim off the excess sandpaper with a utility knife. Now repeat the process with a piece of PVC pipe. Roll the PVC pipe across the back of the sandpaper and trim it off. The paint stick is great for smoothing flat surfaces and outside curves, and the pipe is excellent for inside curves or contours. Plus, PVC comes in several different diameters, so you’re sure to find one to fit your needs.
